Asia!
While the banking system implodes around here again (I suspect it will be whole by Monday, but if it’s not, it might get pretty nasty for many), I’m getting ready to go to Asia for my annual somewhat-extended adventure.
Planning to be in Tokyo from 16 March, then probably Korea/Thailand for work visits for a few things, back to Japan for Real World Crypto 27-30 March, then probably other parts of Japan (and maybe elsewhere) through ETH Tokyo 16-18 April, then a trip to Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan through ETH Taipei. Back to the US and Austin for Consensus, Croatia for Financial Cryptography 2023, and then back to PR for a while. (Incidentally, yay for frequent flyer miles and the weak Yen/strong USD.)
I’ll try to write about startup/ecosystem stuff in these places. The one hassle of doing this is timezones; I’ll still be mostly dealing with US people PLUS local Asia timezone stuff, so I suspect sleep will be the sacrifice, but sashimi can make up for that.
Please don’t completely wreck the startup ecosystem (one of the few enduringly positive parts of the US economy), faith in the banking system (it should decline gradually and be replaced by something better, not just implode all at once), etc. while I’m gone, ok?
